Ph.D. candidate Ganesh Shiwakoti is investigating the mathematical underpinnings of artificial intelligence to advance medical imaging and healthcare solutions, working under the mentorship of Dr. William Hahn in the Gruber AI Sandbox.

The Gruber AI Sandbox hosted an interdisciplinary lecture salon on the cognitive and philosophical connections between synesthesia, language, and perception, featuring Ekkolapto founder Addy Cha with special guests Dr. Will Hahn, Misha Klopukh, and Michael Ostroff.

Ph.D. student Daniel Van Zant is developing an automated AI platform to test neuroscience theories using the fruit fly connectome — a complete 3D map of every neuron and synaptic connection in a fruit fly’s brain. The platform enables virtual experiments before costly laboratory work.

The MPCR Lab hosted Ekkolapto’s cognitiveHackathon at FAU — a weekend event bringing together students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to build demos and develop theories in unconventional computing.

MPCR Lab alumna Emma Susi won the Dr. Eric H. Shaw FAU Wave Excellence in Innovation Award and $2,000 prize for her project SPEAC (Sensory Personalized EEG Assistive Communication) — a non-invasive brain-computer interface enabling communication for individuals with ALS, stroke, and speech impairments.
