Ganesh Shiwakoti Explores Mathematical Foundations of AI for Healthcare
Ph.D. candidate Ganesh Shiwakoti is investigating the mathematical underpinnings of artificial intelligence to advance medical imaging and healthcare solutions, working under the mentorship of Dr. William Hahn in the Gruber AI Sandbox.
Shiwakoti, who completed his master’s degree at Tribhuvan University in Nepal before joining FAU in 2022, focuses on making AI more reliable and explainable for clinical applications. “My research has the potential to enhance the quality of care in all areas of medicine by making AI more reliable and to give AI the ability to explain itself,” he says.
He also serves as a graduate research assistant at the Sandbox and treasurer of FAU’s SIAM student chapter, with expected completion in Fall 2027.
